I was so excited to learn Grand Rapids has been awarded part of a 6.2 million dollar grant for research on Parkinson Disease. I just had to call my very first (and favoritest–is that a word?) boss, J. Brock Albert…a.k.a. Jim Albert.
I spoke with him and his dear writer-wife, Linda in Longboat Key, Florida. I didn’t realize Linda is a writer too of essays, poetry, literary journals, etc.., So, I’ve found another kindred spirit.
Both the Alberts were thrilled to hear that GR will be conducting research on Parkinson’s especially because Jim is living with Parkinsons. A couple of years ago, they moved from their long time residence in East Grand Rapids, and now reside in Florida all year. They invited Steve and I to come down and visit them, so who knows, maybe we will!
