Turbulent forecast ahead?

Dark, ominous sky overhead
Warns of rain and inclement weather.
Tempest clouds
Speak of turbulent forecast.
Yet, we are docked safe and secure
Naught to worry or fear.

Even though outside the
Weather is frightful, I know
He has this whole world in His hands.
Deep within my soul
I can truly say,
It is well with my soul.

The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit, John 3:8.

Rainy days, and that’s okay

Remember the 1971 song sung by The Carpenters, Rainy days and Mondays. “hanging around–nothing to do but frown…nothing ever seems to fit…rainy days and Mondays always get me down.  What I’ve got they used to call the blues, nothing is really wrong, feeling like I don’t belong, walking around like some kind of lonely clown…”  The song went #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Today is rainy and it is Monday, but I really don’t feel down. Actually, I feel happy and well. True, I do talk to myself and feel rather old and sometimes I would like to quit. Often, I feel like I don’t fit, but maybe that’s just life. We can’t all feel on top of the world always. If we didn’t have down days, how could we appreciate the mountain top experiences? The jubilant, happy times just wouldn’t be the same without the trials.

“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”

(2 Peter 1:3—4)

note: I did write this yesterday, which was a Monday, but didn’t publish until today.

12 noon

12:00 noon      Steve called – they had rain all night long too – some of the banks near the marina washed out – standing rain in places.

The forecast for their 3 pm start time is predicted for “clear” – and they should be able to hoist the jib at the start line and fly the spinnaker north towards their Mackinaw Island goal.

5 and 8 a.m.

5:00 am           Add thunder to the mix. The rain continues to fall.

8:00 am           Persistent rain continues throughout the early morning hours. I close the hatch above my head and close all the windows too due to moisture finding its way inside. I wonder if the same is happening south of here in Chicago and the boat docks there?
