Water Therapy

beach at Wrightsville Beach Atlantic

Atlantic Ocean – Wrightsville Beach

Ocean waves thunder & roll
Crashing unrepentant against the shore
Greenish-blue water with froth on top
Wind blasts sand on my skin
Children chase seagulls
Birds hover overhead
Carried along with the breeze
People play … enjoying life
Others rest after a hectic week
Some immersed in their favorite read
Carefree feeling
Place to unwind
Absorb sun’s rays
To just be!

I stoop low
Spying a smooth peculiar shell
Purple hued edges
Catch my eye
I gather grains of polished sand
As they trickle past my fingertips

Praying
May the wind smooth and polish
My rough and jagged edges
May I be beautiful and useful
In Your sight
For Your glory!

Come along with me to the Ocean!

Dabble your fingertips
Through textured sand
Close your eyes
Touch the shells & coral   Sand and shells (Copy)

Dream of majestic birds in flight
Brilliant sun kisses cheek & forehead
Imagine a breeze off the ocean
Count the rhythmic waves

God’s creation speaks volumes
If I only stop & allow
His message to permeate
Mind, Body, and Soul

“Be still and know that I am God”—Psalm 46:10

Contentment

It takes a few days before I can really relax and believe this is vacation. I am so trained and glued to electronic devices such as cell phone, Internet, voice mail, and postal mail. A conscious, deliberate choice needs to be made in my brain and it goes something like this:

“Thou shall concentrate on God-created beauty only!”

God-created beauty is all around me. My toes walk through peaches and cream colored sand and crushed shells. My eyes feast on teal-blue Caribbean waves and flying pelicans, gulls, and sandpipers. A hot, southern sun beats down as I lounge in a comfortable yellow beach chair. At night, the moon beams full over Cancun.

Satisfaction, contentment permeates my being. My mind voluntarily empties of any lingering schedules or worry.
