Do I honor God?

“because you have not set your heart to honor me” (Malachi 2:2).

Have I set my heart on honoring God? Or, am I more likely to set my heart on my own will and desires? To worship what I please and when I please?

Honoring involves what I choose to do with my time. Do I rise early to seek God’s face and read his love letter to me? Or, am I more concerned with beginning my day: checking the Internet, laundry, exercise, prep for work?

Honoring involves who I choose to spend time with. Do I choose people who lift up God’s name or those who bring me down emotionally and physically? I may rationalize that she is fun and exciting. But does he cause me to move closer to God or further away from God and his perfect will for my life?

Forgive me, Father, for not always desiring what you desire for me. Oftentimes it’s more about me and my selfish desires when it should be all about you. I desire to seek your face early this morning and to serve you all the days of my life.
