Soar on wings like eagles
Feeling tired? Generally worn out? I am. I believe sickness tends to make a person feel less than significant, useless, and desiring to be anywhere but in their current skin. I’ve been fighting this cough and cold for weeks now. Even the doctor saying, “There’s a lot of that going around,” really doesn’t help my physical or mental state. I know she meant well, but it didn’t do a lot for me at that point in time. I just wanted her to wave a magic wand over my body, and tell me I’m cured.
You get to the point where you actually believe you’ll never be well or healed again. And when you do get better, your perspective on life takes on a whole new spin. Ever been there? I also find it amazing how quickly we slide back into our normal routine as if we weren’t ever down and out. How soon we forget the meaning of slowing down and smelling the roses…life back to normal. When I do get back to normal (whatever that is!), I want to remember to say “thank you” to God and my physician for restoring me to health that I so easily take for granted.
“Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
But those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.”
The above is one of my mom’s favorite passages of scripture & mine too: “But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles.” Isaiah 40:28-31
Feeling tired today? Look to the One who gives strength to the weary, so you too can run and not grow weary!
