  • Web Development Opens in Sartell, Minnesota

    Our son was sitting in a coffee shop awaiting the arrival of a client, when he noticed a gal in the coffee shop who looked familiar. He struck up a conversation with her and learned they were mutual members of the Chamber of Commerce. In their conversation he mentioned his new business, and she asked him for an interview him, and he agreed.

    We just received the following email from our son, Andrew.

    “Here is the article the St. Cloud Times did on the business today. It was on the 2nd page of the newspaper. I’m on my way to a meeting now that someone called me from reading that article. Here’s the link to the online version.”

  • Assurance comes from Jude

    Ever fall? Ever stumble, or do what you know you shouldn’t do? Maybe you didn’t do what you knew you should have done. I sure have–and more than once! It’s awesome to KNOW there is a great and merciful God who knows what I did (or didn’t do), and still loves me enough to give me a second chance.

    I’d like to share with you a piece of assurance for followers of Christ which comes from           Jude 1:24-25:

    “Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.”

    Thanks to a God of second chances!

  • Another “aha” moment!

     

          I just love it when I’m reading along in a book and spot a passage I can use it my current writings! I call that “aha” moment a God-thing!  

         This very same thing just happened on the way home from Minnesota to Michigan (no, I wasn’t driving at the time!) I cannot read long in the car without Dramamine, so I quickly read a chapter in my current book, Buyology-Truth and lies about why we buy, by Martin Lindstrom. On page 3, he states, “I’ll admit, the notice of a science that can peer into the human mind gives a lot of people the willies, when most of us hear “brain scan,” our imaginations slither into paranoia…”

         Since I’m writing mediations regarding my journey before, during, and after brain scans, tumor, and brain surgery, this seemed an appropriate inclusion.

  • Soar on wings like eagles

    Feeling tired? Generally worn out? I am. I believe sickness tends to make a person feel less than significant, useless, and desiring to be anywhere but in their current skin. I’ve been fighting this cough and cold for weeks now. Even the doctor saying, “There’s a lot of that going around,” really doesn’t help my physical or mental state. I know she meant well, but it didn’t do a lot for me at that point in time. I just wanted her to wave a magic wand over my body, and tell me I’m cured.

    You get to the point where you actually believe you’ll never be well or healed again. And when you do get better, your perspective on life takes on a whole new spin. Ever been there? I also find it amazing how quickly we slide back into our normal routine as if we weren’t ever down and out. How soon we forget the meaning of slowing down and smelling the roses…life back to normal. When I do get back to normal (whatever that is!), I want to remember to say “thank you” to God and my physician for restoring me to health that I so easily take for granted.

    The LORD is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
    He will not grow tired or weary,
    and his understanding no one can fathom.

    He gives strength to the weary
    and increases the power of the weak.

    Even youths grow tired and weary,

    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint.”

    The above is one of my mom’s favorite passages of scripture & mine too: “But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles.”  Isaiah 40:28-31

    Feeling tired today? Look to the One who gives strength to the weary, so you too can run and not grow weary!

  • have you been wronged?

    have you been wronged? of course you have, everyone has at one time or another.

    What do you do if a dear one is grievously wronged by someone she wanted to trust? Ever experience something similar? I have, and it hurts deeply. The pain lingers, and feels as if it will never depart.

    Truth is: human beings disappoint. God never disappoints, but loves you with an unconditional, pure, free-from-fear type of love. Isn’t it comforting to know we can approach God’s throne of grace anytime of day/night,   24-7.  

    The danger lies if I allow one person’s selfish act to infect my very being and personality. If I allow another’s grievous act to sour me…then I’m as guilty as that individual. Will I learn from the situation and grow and become a better, more stable follower of Christ? Or, will I become a dried up, sulky martyr who is of no use to anyone? Bitter or better? The choice is totally up to me.

    I challenge you (myself included) to use the next days/months to get to know God personally in an intimate way like you’ve never known him before. I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

     

     “For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

     Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”

  • Have you been summoned by name yet?

  • feeling good?

    ‘Feeling good is not the ultimate objective; living in a healthy relationship with God is.’ – (Quote by Barbara and David Sorensen)

    How many times would I rather feel good instantly? Sometimes I dream of being a #10 according to Hollywood standards. Yet, Psalm 9 claims our ultimate objective is a simple one: to be glad and to rejoice in God, our heavenly Father.

    Pure and simple–uncomplicated, but I make it complicated. Lord, I want my goal to be glad in you and you alone. I see with my eyes your majestic wonders—fresh fallen snow, rippling stream, squirrels chomping on corn kernels, and hear happy chirps from distant birds.

    I feel my heart pumping regularly. My legs and back hold me up and carry me where I desire. O Most High, I will be glad and rejoice in you. Forgive me for neglecting to praise your name and shout it on the mountaintops in exultation.

    “I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.”           Psalm 9:2

  • Addition to the Celestial Nursery

    We now have a grandbaby in heaven. Bethany and Andrew now have a child in heaven.

    When I see those words in print – I can’t help but tear up. I know there’s a reason why our daughter-in-law, Bethany, miscarried and God knows best. The baby was about 11 weeks along.

    I can’t help but wonder…what color were his eyes? or her eyes? What color of hair did the baby have? If he/she lived to full term, would they come out smiling and happy or screaming to the top of their lungs?

    In some ways, it seems indecent not to mourn, to have a funeral ceremony of sorts. I guess society says we should move on…it was meant to be…better for the baby and the parents.

    I know I’m not alone. I just spoke to a dear friend, and she has a grandbaby in heaven and a child of her own there too. Maybe that softens the blow just a little—to find out others grieve and mourn in a similar fashion. And maybe the babies are in the same nursery together being rocked and sung to without a care in the world.

    It helps to think of our grandbaby in this celestial nursery and surrounded with the utmost love and care!
