    “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us” — 2 Corinthians 4:7.

    God gave each of us a message, a song, and a story in our hearts. He gave us this message to share. Not to keep it stored up inside.    Glory-gifts from God (Copy)

    Your story is different than mine. Your story is yours. My story is mine. My story includes joy, pain, trials, defeat and victory — so does yours. Our stories involve different details, but similar characteristics. The Author-Creator of our stories remains the same God.

    Isn’t it time to pen those words, so others can be blessed & encouraged? Ask God to fill you with his all-encompassing power. He will give you and me the courage to write that story burning deep inside!

    Let me fill you with my Love, Joy, and Peace … Glory-gifts #JesusCalling.

  • Soaring on eagle wings

    “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,they will walk and not be faint “ – Isaiah 40:28–31.

    I love this verse …partially because these verses in Isaiah were also my Mom’s favorite ones too. They speak of power and strength. Hope bursts forth in this chapter giving courage to carry on. I see at least three object lessons here:

    1. It is not in my own strength that anything is accomplished. All comes from a holy, everlasting God. I can make all the plans in the world, but if God does not wish it to happen, it will not. “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails” — Proverbs 19:21. I can be confident that my future is in good hands.  More to follow in my next post.

  • Fond Memories of Mom

    Today would have been my Mom’s birthday. I miss her. All three of her siblings miss her a lot. A celebration would have been planned had she still been here. Instead, 22 years ago there was a celebration: her promotion into Glory where she now resides happily in Heaven. My Mom, the party planner, lived to invite family over for any celebration — large or small. She just loved entertaining with food and gifts. If there was any possible excuse to see her children or grandchildren, she took advantage of the occasion.

    Mom was not ashamed to tell others about her faith in God. People gravitated to her kind, gentle and caring spirit. She didn’t hide her light under a bushel, but eagerly told anyone how blessed she was and that God was the center of her life. She felt a special connection to anyone needing emotional or physical help.

    She’s a witness and reminder to me of Timothy’s words in 2 Timothy 1, “I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God … For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.”

    I need not fear what others may think of me when I confess my belief in God. God gave me that same spirit of power, of love and a sound mind too. So today, I thank God that he blessed me with a Mom who was respected and loved, worked hard, and spoke wisdom to all. I choose to model her godliness to my children, grandchildren, and to those whose lives I touch.

    Ask: Is there someone in your life who models similar positive traits … maybe a relative, friend, or mentor who has your best interests in mind? Have you carved time in your busy schedule to walk alongside this individual and learn from them?

  • New job description

    I just completed two weeks at my new job. Description of the job:

    View outside my office window

         *  Tiring

         *  Stretching me

         *  And I’m weary, but

    I am so thankful that God showed up this week! God helped me literally walk miles through unchartered territory, meet new faces (and even remember some!)

    My hubby supported me even so far as to pack my lunch while I scrambled to shower, dress and be out the door by 6:15 a.m.

     Bonus: I have the opportunity to work with a Christian colleague – God, you are amazing!

     “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,” (Ephesians 3:20).

  • Review of “Lioness Arising – Wake Up and Change Your World”

    I was eager to discover the meaning behind the word “Lioness” and how it fit in with females in today’s world. Ms. Bevere’s walks the reader through the concept of a woman’s awesome strength and beauty, and how God purposely places women in key roles in history, the family, and in community.

    In the first chapter, Ms. Bevere tells of her dream about a lioness. During this dream, she hears an audible voice, “with the birth of this son, you will awaken a lioness.” I have to admit the dream threw me off a bit. Ms. Bevere’s desire is for each of us to realize our unrealized possibilities. She longs to “awaken something wild, wise, and wonderful in you.” She uses challenging questions to spurn women on to greater heights in order to reach their fullest potential.

    Ms. Bevere ended strong with her last two chapters, “Walking with a lion,” and “From a whisper to a roar.”  Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “None of us will ever accomplish anything excellent or commanding except when he listens to this whisper which is heard by him alone.” One of the author’s comments that stood out for me: “Don’t ask others to tell you what you alone can hear. In doing so, you give them power over the God-whisper within your heart. Honor what God whispers, and take the time to listen to what he imparts in excellence to you.”

    As women, we have what it takes to succeed—strength, beauty, power, spiritual awareness—in whatever task God assigns us.

    It was difficult for me to keep coming back to complete the book—I’d recommend condensing the book.

    Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher through the Waterbrook Multnomah book review bloggers program, “Blogging for Books.”
