  • Turbulent forecast ahead?

    Dark, ominous sky overhead
Warns of rain and inclement weather.
    Tempest clouds
    Speak of turbulent forecast.
Yet, we are docked safe and secure
    Naught to worry or fear.

    Even though outside the
    Weather is frightful, I know
He has this whole world in His hands.
    Deep within my soul
    I can truly say,
It is well with my soul.

The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit, John 3:8.

  • Check your Thankful Spirit

“Be on the lookout for what I am doing in your life. Worship Me by living close to Me, thanking Me in all circumstances,”—Jesus Calling.

*extra credit: Read 1 Thessalonians 5:18.

    •  Just how close are you living to God? Or, are you satisfied with a long-distance relationship?
    • How’s your thankful spirit? What things/people in your life are you thankful for? Consider verbalizing that back to God and to that person(s).

  • When push comes to shove

“Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty” — Zechariah 4:6.

All my striving, pushing, analyzing, and planning are no match for my Heavenly Father. My Divine Advocate. I can do nothing aside from His permission.

“It is only through God’s spirit that anything of lasting value is accomplished” (NIV Life Application Bible notes). God made me who I am today. He didn’t need to call a meeting or a hire a team of experts to study the situation. He spoke and the universe appeared. And that universe includes you and me!

With Him, nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37).

  • What makes you happy?

What makes you happy and rejoicing over just being alive? I take pleasure in the common, ordinary things of life such as changing of the seasons and fall leaf colors. I’m thinking of joys such as:

    Autumn Leaves by Steve Lasher

         *  The smell and feel of a new book or magazine

         *  Feel of a pencil or pen on paper

         *  Cleaned and vacuumed car

         *  Watching a sunset over the horizon

         *  Walk outdoors and inhaling fresh, clean air

My husband jokes and says it doesn’t take much to amuse some people (I’m guessing he’s referring to me). And that’s okay!

I’d like to hear from you…what makes you happy and lifts your spirit?

  • Laugh a little!

“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones” (Proverbs 17:22).

Laughter can draw others to you and lighten your load in life. When you begin to laugh at life and at yourself, you gain new perspectives on your struggles. Begin today.—Emilie Barnes
